Overview
A Certificate of Title is a legal record showing the current ownership of a parcel of land, along with other relevant information associated with the Title. This search will return an automated or imaged Title.
Who Is It For?
Land information is available for anybody conducting land investigations and/or conveyancing.
What Do You Get Out Of It?
A Title Search will return either an Automated Title from the ALTS (Automated Land Title System) or an Imaged Title of an older physical copy. Each title identifies the land description, the registered proprietor(s), and any associated instruments, dealings or other encumbrances relating to the Title such as Mortgages, Caveats, Covenants, Notices or Owners Corporations (Bodies Corporate) affecting the Title. This search does not show the history of the Title or a diagram or plan of the property.
The Application Process
You must use the relevant Title Reference (Volume & Folio numbers) when searching a Title. A Title reference consists of a 4 - 5 digit Volume number followed by a 3 digit Folio number. If you do not have the Title Reference, you can obtain this information by first doing an Index Search, which will provide the relevant Title Reference to enable you to then order your Title Search. Results are usually delivered instantly.
