A Power of Attorney (POA) is a written Instrument authorising a person (the Attorney) – family member, friend, legal practitioner, etc – to make decisions and/or act on behalf of another person (the Principal). The POA will outline to which areas and to what extent the individual may make decisions. In Queensland, a Power of Attorney dealing with real estate, must be stamped and recorded in the Register of Powers of Attorney within the Land Registry.
