A NSW Historical Title Search is an electronic report, from the NSW Land Registry Service in Sydney, of all the activity on a Title since 1986* (when Titles were automated).
The report will give you an electronic list providing the date of each transaction, the type of transaction, and the “Dealing” Number (also known as the Document Number, or Instrument Number).
The most common types of transactions you will see listed are: Transfers, Mortgages, Caveats, Discharges of Mortgage, Deposited Plans, etc.
If you find a transaction on the list that you wish to investigate further, you can order a scanned copy of the original Document by first taking note of the Dealing Number, then clicked on the following link, and selecting "Dealing" from the Document Type list: https://www.ib.com.au/buy/203/nsw-imaged-documents
Along with several other supporting searches, an Historical Title search can be invaluable to somebody interested in researching the history of their house or researching their family tree.
